Reception is a foundation for future learning. Most of the time it won’t feel like learning, the children see it as fun and an extension of their play.

EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE CURRICULUM WHICH COVERSOur topics for the year are:

Our AUTUMN topics include:
all about me and my family, all about where I live
the season of Autumn and Christmas
During this topic we look closely at our internal and external body parts and think about ways to keep our bodies and minds healthy.
We also learn about our local area and talk about our family and how all families are different.
We learn about why Christmas is celebrated and how different people celebrate it.

Our SPRING topics include:
the season of Winter and Spring, Polar animals and dinosaurs
During this topic we think about Seasonal changes and learn about what happens in different Seasons.
We do some Science work about why certain animals live in certain places and some history work
about when dinosaurs were alive.

Our SUMMER topics include:
growing, journeys and transport
During this topic we do some science work around plants growing and what they need to grow.
We do some geography work around different places around the world and some history work on how transport has changed over the years.

Over they year we will do some work on traditional fairy stories, including the three little pigs, Jack and the beanstalk and the Gingerbread man.
