After such a long absence from school, we will also spend a lot of time re-establishing daily routines and covering lots of PSHE to allow the children time to discuss and process the mixture of feelings they may have and to help them re-adjust back into school life so that they are ready to continue their learning journey.
Our first exciting topic for the Autumn term is: “What if there were no rainforests?” This is primarily a geography based unit of work in which the children will locate these important ecosystems on maps, learn about their key physical characteristics, analyse how they impact our planet and how we, as humans, are impacting them, including the people and animals who reside in them. In Science, our topic is: “Living things and their habitats.” In this topic, we will look at and compare the life cycles of a variety of living creatures.
In order to give our children a broad and balanced curriculum, we will also cover French, Art, DT, Music, RE, PE and Computing, either within our topics as part of a creative curriculum or as stand-alone subjects.
We are really looking forward to getting to know your children and hope you and your children are feeling as excited as we are to return in September.
