Here at St Paul’s we are committed to promoting the importance of good health and well-being for all our children. We recognise the important role that Physical Education plays in this, as well as the positive influence it has on concentration, attitude and academic achievement.

As well as being taught twice a week, physical education is incorporated into lots of different lessons. We strive to have active maths and English lessons where the children are up on their feet and actively learning. Currently, St Paul’s is working towards the ‘Active 30’. Active 30 has been developed to help schools reduce sedentary behaviour and increase physical activity in young people outside of timetabled curriculum PE.

Footgolf

On Friday the 12th November some of the members of year 5 and 6 took part in a footgolf competition at the Pingles, we competed against other schools in the area and had a brilliant time.

“I was much better at it than I thought I would be.  Some of the holes I got in 2 shots!!!”

“I liked the fact that we could practice first, as it gave me a better idea of the course and how hard to kick.”

“I impressed myself with how well I did.  I liked the fact it was more about taking part than winning.”

“I enjoyed the challenge of the variety of holes, some were far harder than others.  I’d like to go back to the Pingles and challenge my family to a round of footgolf.”

“I enjoyed representing the school and I tried my hardest to beat Jude!”

Dodgeball

On Monday the 22nd November we attended a dodgeball event at Queen Elizabeth School. It was organised by School Games and was superbly run by the Sports Leaders from QE. We had a great time playing against schools from the local area. All schools were judged against the School Games values of: teamwork, respect and honesty and we were delighted that we came 1st.

“It was exhausting, weirdly harder at the start than the end.  It really helped having friends cheering you on.”

“I was determined to at least match my friend’s distance – we all smashed over 310 metres in a minute and a half!”

“The relay was a fun challenge.  Everyone was screaming and cheering and the change- over bits were frantic. In 4 minutes we managed to row 2078 metres and that included the change-over!”

“We all felt happy, surprised and proud to come 2nd and win a medal!”

“My favourite bit was the victory disco on the mini-bus back!”
