Special Educational Needs & Disabilities

Inclusion and SEND
At St Paul’s, every child is welcome, and every child has the chance to shine like a star. We’re a mainstream school proud to support pupils with a wide range of needs, whether that’s with communication, learning, emotional wellbeing, or a sensory or physical need, including through our Specialist Resource Provision, The Orchard, which supports children with communication and speech and language needs.
Our SENDCo, Mrs Millidge, and Assistant SENDCo, Mrs Hiatt, work closely with every member of staff to make sure children with additional needs are known, understood and supported to thrive.
We also hold termly Inclusion Coffee Mornings, where families can come together, network with one another, and hear from a range of visitors — from professional services to voluntary agencies — who support children and the wider family.
Got a question or a concern about your child? Pop into the school office to arrange a chat — the kettle’s always on. Prefer to talk it through with someone outside school first? Warwickshire SENDIASS offer free, confidential and independent advice for families too.

What do we do to support the wellbeing of children/young people with SEND?
All children are encouraged through our curriculum to be courageous advocates. Children are welcomed to have their own voice and contribute towards what it means to feel safe within an inclusive school. All children also have the opportunity to share their views via their school parliament representatives, if they feel more comfortable doing so via a peer.
How will we support your child when joining the school or between year group changes?
We encourage all new children to visit the school before starting. For children/young people with SEND we encourage extra transition visits and the SENDCo works closely with the transferring nursery/school. We begin to prepare young people for transition into the next stage of their education or training by close liaison with feeder schools, extra transition visits for the most vulnerable pupils and excellent communication with the SENDCo of the receiving school. Transition books with photos of new workspaces, year group areas and staff can also be given to those children who may need additional support.
