At the end of Key Stage 2 (KS2), children take national curriculum tests, often known as SATs.

These assessments cover:

  • English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling
  • English Reading
  • Mathematics

SATs help measure children’s attainment against national expectations and support teachers and parents in understanding progress and next steps before secondary school.

The tests:

  • Take place on nationally set dates
  • Are organised by the school
  • May be rearranged in exceptional circumstances if a child is absent

SATs are just one part of the picture, alongside teacher assessment and your child’s wider achievements.
