Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA)

Click Here for Reception baseline assessment: information for parentsWithin the first 6 weeks of starting school, children in Reception will take part in the Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA).

The purpose of this short assessment is to provide a starting point for measuring the progress children make throughout their primary education, up to the end of Year 6.

The assessment:

• Takes place in a relaxed, one-to-one setting with a familiar adult
• Uses practical and interactive activities
• Helps measure progress across the primary years

The RBA is not something children can “pass” or “fail”, and there is no need for any special preparation.
