Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)

At St Paul’s CofE Primary School, Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) helps children develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to stay safe, healthy and build positive relationships throughout their lives. Our RSHE curriculum reflects our Christian vision and values, supporting children to become respectful, responsible and confident individuals who can thrive both now and in the future.

Statutory Requirements

RSHE is delivered in line with Department for Education guidance. In primary schools:

  • Relationships Education is statutory.

  • Health Education is statutory.

  • Sex Education is not statutory, although schools may choose to teach age-appropriate aspects of sex education.

Parents cannot withdraw their child from Relationships Education or Health Education. However, they may request withdrawal from any non-statutory Sex Education lessons delivered by the school.
