Welcome to St Paul’s Church of England Primary School.

A very warm welcome to our school.  We strive to do our very best for every child within a caring Christian learning environment.

We are a large and extremely popular primary school situated on the outskirts of Nuneaton.  We have a nursery class, offering both morning or afternoon sessions as well as ‘wrap around’ child care for our nursery children.  In addition, we offer before and after school child care for all school age children called our ‘Triangle Club’ which is an extremely popular service for many of our parents.  This service is also available throughout the school holidays.

We have a very stable school population with the vast majority of our children continuing their education at St. Paul’s.  We offer our children varied, stimulating, enjoyable and memorable learning experiences.  We believe in an active, first hand approach to learning; children use our well resourced school environment as well as off site learning experiences and residential visits for children in years 4, 5 and 6.  We offer a wide range of sporting and musical activities, many being run as after school clubs.  Our children benefit from our International School status; we have meaningful links with schools across Europe and beyond.  Our high quality arts provision was recognised with an Artsmark Gold Award and the quality of our science work across the school has been reflected in the school achieving the Gold Primary Science Quality Mark.  Our school has recently been awarded the Sainsbury’s Silver Award for commitment and engagement in competitive sports.

Academic standards are high at St. Paul’s and all of our children achieve and progress very well.  Our children enjoy coming to school; our attendance is above the National average and there is a very high degree of satisfaction and confidence in the school from our parents.

We were recently judged as a ‘Good’ school following our Ofsted inspection in January 2018, a status in which we are all extremely proud of.  Ofsted recognised that our children make good progress throughout the school in mathematics, reading and writing.  They leave the school achieving higher standards than the National averages.  In their main findings the inspectors commented, “St Paul’s is welcoming and friendly school.”  “Behaviour is good and is characterised by courtesy, good manners and pupils’ friendly and caring attitudes towards one another.”  “A strength of the school is the exemplary quality of the pastoral care for all pupils, especially those whose circumstances make them potentially most vulnerable.”

We have a very effective governing body which Ofsted recognised as a strength of the school as they are extremely knowledgeable about the school and effectively influence school improvement.

The Ofsted inspectors recognised that our school is about much more that academic achievement alone.  We work hard to give children lots of opportunities for them to develop their talents and interests and it was extremely pleasing that the inspectors commented that “Pupils enjoy coming to school and feel safe and secure”.

As a Church of England ‘controlled’ school we also have a SIAS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools) inspection around the same time as an OFSTED inspection.  The SIAS inspection summarised St Paul’s as an ‘outstanding’ Church school.

We hope that you enjoy looking around our website but there is nothing like the real thing and if you wish to visit us in person, then we will be only too pleased to show you around our school.

Best wishes

Mr Carl Thornton, Head teacher
