ST PAUL'S NURSERYPlay is our brain’s favourite way of learning
Welcome to Nursery. In Nursery (Cherry Class) your teachers are Mrs Bridge, Mrs Radford, Mrs Wykes and Mrs Roper. We follow a play-based curriculum which enables children to explore and learn in an environment which is safe and secure, yet challenging. We love learning through play!
EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE CURRICULUM WHICH COVERSSpring Term
During the spring term we have been learning about winter, traditional fairy tales, special celebrations and spring.
Traditional Fairy Tales
As part of our winter learning the children enjoyed exploring winter colours, going on walks and getting dressed for winter.
During this topic we have explored the tales; The Gingerbread Man, Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Through exploring these stories we have begun to make predictions, join in with stories and also learnt about characters and settings. We have made and decorated gingerbread men, built bridges and explored what Little Red Riding Hood carries in her basket.
This term we have celebrated; Chinese New Year, Pancake Day, Mother’s Day and the Hindu festival Holi. The children particularly enjoyed participating in the different colour activities as part of our Holi learning.
Most recently we have been learning about spring. We went on a walk to look for signs of spring, have explored spring colours and created bird feeders.
We are proud of our welcoming, friendly environment
During the summer term our topics will beminibeasts and growing. For the first half of the term the children have chosen to explore; ladybirds, centipedes, spiders, snails, bees, caterpillars and butterflies.
At Nursery, we also enjoy following the children’s interests and try to plan for them as much as possible. If your child has a particular interest, please let a member of Nursery staff know and we will endeavour to incorporate it into our planning.
